Heavy plates for mechanical engineering
Industry 4.0 and mechanical engineering are closely connected. Machines and products in current industrial use already communicate with one another. There is an increasing number of totally automated and completely interconnected production cells. The modern goal of maximum productivity and efficiency goes hand-in-hand with the minimisation of unplanned downtime. Wear-related damage has to be avoided and cost advantages must be leveraged. Of course that also applies to the construction of machines and systems.
Heavy plates are often an attractive alternative to steel casting due to the lower-cost production options, dimensional accuracy, surface qualities and very good weldability.
Applications for production equipment, process engineering, machinery and plant engineering – such as packaging machines, conveyor systems and waste management – all use heavy steel plates in their manufacturing processes.
